Affordability is a must when running a pharmacy. Not only do you want to provide modern services at an affordable rate, but you need to accept a wide variety of payment options.
From mobile methods like Apple Pay to HSA cards and more niche credit card providers, providing more options further cements your pharmacy’s status as a pillar of the community.
Earlier this year, NationsBenefitsannounced a partnership with RedSail Technologies and PioneerRx to enable Medicare Advantage and Medicaid members to use their NationsBenefits Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card* at more than 6,000 independent pharmacies nationwide. Read on what this means for your pharmacy and how you can integrate it into your current pharmacy operations.
The integration with NationsBenefits offers greater access to pharmacy products for its members. With it, patients can use their NationsBenefits Mastercard to purchase approved pharmacy and wellness essentials and OTC items at PioneerRx-affiliated pharmacies.
This integration aligns with NationsBenefits' mission to enhance member convenience and give them a wide array of ways to enhance their health journeys. It also aligns with PioneerRx’s mission to let pharmacies provide exceptional services and products in ways they see fit.
As we alluded to earlier, this integration aims to help both sides of the pharmacy counter. More accepted payment methods means more potential for greater profits for your pharmacy. Chuck Obeid, Pharmacy Owner at Sheehans Pharmacy, has utilized the integration and wonders why he hadn’t done so sooner.
“We should have been doing it about a year ago as [the NationsBenefits Mastercard] cards became more and more popular with our patients,” Chuck says. “Signing up was easy and it’s really been a successful program for us.”
Chuck cites the direct integration with PioneerRx’s POS system for the seamless transition, ensuring that Sheehans’ pharmacy operations doesn’t miss a beat.
“Once it went from the handheld to the POS system, [accepting the NationsBenefits Mastercard] was easy.”
Chuck does offer one piece of advice to any pharmacy thinking about utilizing the integration: get the word out.
“We sent out flyers and put a message about it in our answering machine.”
He continues, “The hardest part is getting the word out about the integration. Everything else has been seamless and the using this integration is a no brainer.”
