Tim Mitchell knows how to make growth scalable and sustainable. Tim opened his first pharmacy, Mitchell’s Uptown Drug Store, in 2003 and has spent the last two decades working to expand even further. Today, he owns and operates 4 pharmacies in his native Neosho, MO 一 which include the original storefront, Mitchell’s Uptown Drug Store, and three new locations: Mitchell’s Downtown Pharmacy, Mitchell’s on the Boulevard, and Mitchell’s Long Term Care. With so many stores to manage, Tim stays busy, but he never skips out on patient care. Rather, he treats each patient as an individual and works with them to create a care plan tailored to fit their needs. Outside of his practice, Tim works closely with surrounding schools of pharmacy to train future pharmacists. With this work, he hopes to inspire the next generation to focus on personalized care, just as he does.

Freeway to the Future of Pharmacy
Tim Mitchell is passionate about redefining what it means to be a pharmacist. Testing and vaccinating during the pandemic has helped shine a light on the value of independent pharmacists, but this is just the beginning of paving the way for the future. For Mitchell, his guiding philosophy is to stay nimble and stay open to new opportunities. Sometimes you have to take three steps forward and one step back, but at the end of the day, you’re still making progress.
Tim and Tanner Mitchell are a father-son duo taking the independent pharmacy industry by storm. It all started when Tim, Owner of Mitchell’s Drug Stores, opened up shop in Neosho, MO nearly 20 years ago. Over the years, Tim has worked to increase adherence, offer services, and improve outcomes — and he’s made a name for himself in the process. Now, fresh out of pharmacy school, his son Tanner joins him. Together, they’re working to keep the Mitchell family legacy alive. This week, Tim and Tanner join Will to discuss the past, present, and future of Mitchell’s Drug Stores.
